Day 0 – Part 2 – Chris

I am currently enroute from Houston to Baltimore enjoying the inflight wifi. A short recap of the rest of Day 0 the longest day.

AKL – LA onboard ZN4. I was was fortunate to be in BP with a bed as this was an overnight flight leaving around 11pm local time arriving into LA around 4pm local time.

Flight 2 of 4

The long flight was ok and i managed some sleep. For the airline snobs the AirNZ hard product is just as dated as you remember it. No inflight wifi was disappointing. At 183cm the bed is just long enough but the curve means you can only get comfortable facing the screen. The “soft product” or service was still very good with both food and service excellent.

I was pretty anxious about the arrival into LA with horror stories about the 3 hour customs wait. In reality i was about 45 mins. I arrived into LA where I was knocked over by the heat!

I chose to walk between terminals which was probably not the best idea as the humidity had me soaked pretty quick.

I found the united lounge without much issue however the Aircon was not handling the heat. Fortunately only a short wait for my 3rd flight.

The 3rd flight was uneventful except for just how different things are. I was in boarding group 1 which was good as the flight for overhead bin space is real. You get to the gate as early as possible and get onboard if you want to get your bag on!

Flight 3 of 4

I finished up Day 0, the longest day 41 hours. After the loooong disembarkation from the plane I then made my way via the cute little terminal train to the Airport hotel. I don’t remember much about the room other than the bed was comfy and I got a good 6.5 hours sleep!

  1. Hello Chris. Danielle has just talked to me and told me of this blog. That peculiar acronym means beltane lights over grass – or something else just as weird.
