Day 6 – Chris – Toronto

Today was very chill. No set agenda nothing needing to be done so after a pretty good free hotel breakfast I decided I needed to get over my new found fear of driving.

I mounted my faithful steed pictured and drove to a local mall. It was *MUCH* better driving in daylight without having just flown in from DC. While it’s still a lot harder than driving at home as you need to be always concentrating it wasn’t so bad.

The mall was big but nothing special except for it contained a Legoland. Normally this would excite me a LOT but previous research found that they have a really weird policy that you must abduct a child before they will allow you in as an adult! No opportunity arose to snatch and grab a child so I stuck that one off the list.

Danielle had given me pretty firm instructions that I needed to have my washing upto date before she arrived so I went about finding out how to drive the hotel washing machines. In the cause of these investigations I discovered that Canadian $1 coins are referred to as Loonies… and $2 coins are Twoonies. At first I wasn’t sure if I was being trolled but then the following advert popped up

While waiting for my washing to dry I popped down the road to do some more driving and visited Walmart. Others than a bit of chocolate for Danielle I didn’t buy anything but the people watching is great.

For dinner I walked across the car park to ‘The Keg steakhouse and Bar’ it was absolutely packed much to my surprise. I was seated at the bar and enjoyed watching the bartenders work at speed and I got chatting to a retired Canadian couple who were very keen to hear all about New Zealand. In exchange they have given me lots of ideas for the next few weeks.

All in all a pretty good, chill day. Tomorrow I’m heading to the blue mountains for a Spa day!
