Day 3 began, first of all waking up at 3.30 local time (being 6am NZ time) and driving around Port Augusta trying to find somewhere open for breakfast. Lesson learnt today: places in Australia don’t tend to open until after 8.30/9am. So instead we ended up at a truck stop for breakfast, which wasn’t so bad, and useful because we needed to fill up anyway.
First drone flight in Australia taken today with Chris’s new toy, up and around Port Augusta, take a look at some of the photos below, they are pretty spectacular.
First outback drown flight taken at random rest area on the Stewart Highway. We stopped while the other van took off down the road, and followed it down the road for a bit.
Stopped at lake Hart for Lunch. Very hot, lots of flies but a nice view.
Made it to Coober Pedy around 5pm local time, checked into our newest accommodation just in time for a nice swim. Its so hot here they have to put the pools indoors. Grabbed a couple of the firth best pizzas in the world (according to a sign on the wall in our campground) they weren’t to bad at all. Along with our pizzas we tried kangaroo meat which Dan thinks tasted like the buffalo we had in America.
Total kms today is 539
