Day 8 – Threeways to Katherine

Hi all,

Have made it today to Katherine, which is 300km south of Darwin.

This morning we left Threeways (not the Crossroads, as I referred to it as yesterday) and made our way quickly north through Elliot, Newcastle waters & Daly Waters.

Tried to stop for Lunch in Larrimah but there was nothing to eat.  Just a zoo with wallaby’s, cockatoo’s, Bobtail  Lizard and Sam the Fresh Water Crocodile (who looked suspiciously fake as he didn’t move at all).  Only cost $3 each to get in, and wasn’t the fanciest Zoo, but interesting all the same.

So we tried for lunch at Mataranka service station, which wasn’t too bad.  Then we tried to find the local springs for a swim, but because of the rain and high levels in the rivers, all the gates were closed!

So we traveled further north to Katherine, where we intent to spend the night, before heading up to Darwin tomorrow to pick up Danielle’s brother’s girlfriend Ashleigh from the airport.

Now we are reaching the top of NT it is starting to get wet and very muggy!

Until tomorrow

Chris & Danielle

KM traveled today: 649
