Day 17 – Carnarvon to Geraldton

Morning all

Yesterday we started the day by walking the one mile jetty at Carnarvon. We couldn’t quite get to the end because it was closed off, but was interesting all the same! However it was before 10am and we all ended up with sunburn.

After this we visited the space museum at Carnarvon as it played a big part in communications with the Apollo explorations. We experienced what it was like to be sent up to space, was the developments of the place between 1964 and 1975 and all sorts of other interesting things. Dan even brought space ice cream (freeze-dried) which we are yet to try.

Heading south from Carnarvon we had lunch at Overland where it was so hot outside, over 40 degrees. The toilets were back out the side of the building, the handles scorching hot and the water really warm.

We got into Geraldton around 6pm last night and once we all piled out of the campers, ran inside to get jerseys. The temperature had dropped to 23 degrees, what should be normal but after the tropics we found it rather cold! Still we went for a swim (though no one else did) and since we were meeting up with a fiend of Dan’s Dad’s went to the pub for dinner.

After dinner it was straight to be and under the blanket.

On a side note it is 6.48am this morning here, 20 degrees and still very cold!!

Until later
