Day 11 – Disruption

Current location: Montreal, Canada

Yesterday it would be fair to say the wheels fell off. Our morning was mostly uneventful. We returned the tank of a rental car, managing to refuel it and I only almost got us killed once. (roundabouts are hard)

We checked in and made our way to the United lounge. While sittinf in e lounge we were advised our second flight (new york to Halifax) had been cancelled.

The very helpful lady at the United counter changed us from Halifax to Montreal with a Halifax connection in the morning. Only a half day delay not too bad. Or so we thought.

We boarded our flight bound for New York, got settled into our seat then we lost our Air traffic slot so got deplaned.

Back in the United lounge the helpful lady could see the writting on the wall for Newark/New York and started routing us around the weather. After multiple routes and bags being re routed we ended up with Minneapolis to Detroit to Montreal with a connection to Halifax in the morning.

We flew through to Detroit without issue. Had dinner in Detroit airport and found our gate. Another uneventful flight on to Montreal however we did get that first class, Thanks lady from the United lounge. (really wish we had got her name!!!) Landed into Montreal about 10:20 PM local time. Cleared customs and ‘Welcome to Canada!’

Upon reaching the stationary baggage carosel we found we were missing our main bag, only my smaller travel bag had made it šŸ™ šŸ™

As we had been shifted from United to Delta along the way somehow only on of our bags made the delta system. A good hour later and the Delta team had located someone form United that managed to find our second bag. In Detroit. We don’t know when we will see that bag next.

Finally we made it to the Hotel just after midnight with the alarm set for 5:30 am.

That takes us to the end of Day 11. A sneak peak at Day 12 it doesn’t get any better…

Stay tuned. – A very tired Chris & Danielle sitting in a Canadian Walmart.
