Day 4 – Coober Pedy to Ayres Rock/Uluru

today we crossed the border from SA to NT.

The day began with a look around Coober Pedy and a visit to the Old Time Mine.  Such an interesting place and the guys running it were really enthusiastic in what they were telling us.  Some of us went noodling for Opal while Dan spent all her time in the mine reading every fact she could!  The underground dugout homes and post office were something amazing.

Stopped for lunch in Marla (where on earth is Marla??) but because of long lines decided to make our own lunches with the food we had in the campers.

Following Marla we reached the border between SA & NT.  Lots of interesting facts for both states and it marked the end of our time in SA.  Thoughts on SA: Long and barren!

In Kulgara we picked up a fellow traveler with his repaired spare tire who needed a ride up to Erldunda Roadhouse, which is the turn off from the main highway to Ayres Rock.

3 hours later we made it to Ayres Rock just as the sun was setting bathing everything in a beautiful red.

Until tomorrow:
Chris and Dan

KM traveled today: 734km
